How to turn the holiday from curse to grace

The holiday has begun, the children started to prepare for it with all passion and joy, they find relief from the pressure of the school and its rules, and they can now free themselves from all restrictions of studying and following rules.

Parents find it really hard and stressful to spend some extra time with their children during winter vacation, but what will happen if we make plans to spend a good time with our children by doing great things and enjoying our lovely moments together, only then, our children will spend their time during the holiday very well.

So, how can we make plans? Are there any activities to benefit our mind?

 As parents, we may prefer to send them into a winter club that has a clear and organized schedule, so that we could free ourselves from making plans with them. But some of us choose to keep their kids at home under pressure and threat them to stop fighting and making noise, then if we look at them, we will find that they are emptying their potentials and energy. How nice to share them their activities and organize things to them, this turning our homes into clubs and hold them with family love, Taking into consideration their age and interests, share and the difference we find is the reaction and achievements that they keep surprising us with.

Here we find some activities that enrich our mind and soul:

• Get to know the hobbies that your children love, and bring them materials to help them enjoy whatever they want. And strengthen their communication Skills by sharing everything.

• Challenge them with a reading competition by determining the number of books that each should read, and discuss them together in order to enhance interests and open up useful prospects for dialogue.

• Choose a beautiful place to make fun visits and activities such as nature meditation, taking photos and other effective games to enrich your body and soul.

• Set up a schedule for household tasks, including surprises for them, especially if they are young and this is the first time you let them participate in these activities.

• Let your children share Departing a meal or dessert with you, and if they are old enough, let them do it alone. It will enhance their ability to rely on themselves.

• Make your child a companion of yours no matter how old he/she is, and take him/her to visit his relatives, this enhances his relationships and makes bridges for family and social cohesion.

• Organize a voluntary day with your children, they imitate you in everything, and the holiday allows you to remind them of the people in need. No matter how old they are they must learn from visiting an orphan or participating in helping poor people.

• Do something new with your kids, fun things such as rope competitions, memory games, chess and puzzle, and make sure it has awards to motivate them and involve them in ignition competitions between both of you in order to increase their self-control, refining their personality and benefit their mind and body.

Note: the award does not have to be expensive; assigning duties to the one who loses is an enjoyable prize to the children, choosing a movie for the evening…etc, thus we create rewards.

• Specify time with your children to memorize the Qur’an or to learn the prophets’ biography, this truly promote good morals.

• Make a small science laboratory at your house, safe scientific experiments are fun.

• During holiday teach your children the skill of time management, this skill will help them make conscious choices, teach them also to own a notebook to arrange dates and others.

This is some of what we may do with our children, As parents , we may have some ideas that we can share families, and as an adult, always remember that the holiday is an opportunity to learn freely about what our children love, in a nice way that both of us like.

So, make sure not to waste any time with them, no matter they are young or adults.
